이동통신, 금융, 국방 등 고성능 트랜잭션 처리를 요하는 전통적인 응용분야에서 주기억장치 상주형 데이터베이스 관리 시스템(Main Memory DataBase Management System; MMDBMS)을 적용하는 사례가 점차 증가하고 있다. 또한, ITS, LBS, Telematics 등과 같이, 초당 수 만건 이상의 고성능 트랜잭션을 처리하며, 수백 GB 이상의 대용량 데이터를 관리해야 하는 응용분야 역시 확대되고 있다. 이러한 응용분야에서 고성능 트랜잭션 처리를 위하여 대용량 MMDB를 구축하고자 할 경우, 기술적인 문제보다는 수백 GB 이상의 메모리 탑재 비용이 부담이 되어 MMDBMS를 적용하는데 한계가 있었다. 그러나, 최근 기가비트 이더넷 등 초고속 네트워크의 눈부신 발전에 힘입어 네트워크상의 시스템간 데이터의 고속 송수신이 가능해짐에 따라, 전체 MMDB를 네트웍 상에 분산함으로써 시스템 구축 비용을 낮추면서, 대용량 및 고성능 트랜잭션 처리가 가능해졌다. 이에, 본 논문에서는 상용 MMDBMS인 Kairos를 활용하여 대용량 및 고성능 트랜잭션 처리를 제공하는 분산 메인 메모리 데이터베이스 관리 시스템(Distributed Main Memory DataBase Management System; DMMDBMS)인 Kairos-D의 구조를 상세히 기술하였다. |

(English Abstract) |
With the development of HW and SW, commercial big hits of MMDBMS(Main Memory DataBase Management System) are rapidly increasing in mobile communications, finances, defenses etc. Also, application areas like ITS, LBS, Telematics that need high performance transaction processing on massive data are also increasing. However, with the high cost of memory, it is still difficult to use a MMDBMS in the field of high speed processing of massive data with more than hundreds GB. Recently, it is feasible to apply a distributed MMDBMS for high performance transaction processing with high speed networks. In this paper, we describe an architecture of Kairos-D that is a distributed MMDBMS for high performance processing of massive data. |
